The time between the years is ideal for a relaxing self-care day. This is what you need for a wellness day at home.

The holidays are over, the new year is just around the corner. In the days between the years there is usually a little more quiet on the program than around Christmas. Visits to relatives are done and there is often not much going on at work either. The perfect opportunity to take a little break for yourself and treat your body and soul to a wellness programme. It doesn’t take much for a self-care day: just a little time, no appointments and the longing for well-being and relaxation. The most beautiful ideas for wellness at home:

What do you need for a wellness day at home?

This is how your home becomes a spa: To get that wellness day feeling, you need a soft bathrobe, comfortable slippers or thick wool socks. Alternatively, you can also spend the day in a comfortable loungewear set – depending on what’s on your personal day spa program.

If you feel like it in the morning, you can start the day with a little exercise. A long walk in the morning refreshes the spirit and clears the head. Alternatively, the recovery day can also start with a yoga session or a little meditation.

The well-known yoga teacher Adriene Mischler (38) For example, offers various yoga flows and meditation instructions for every need on their YouTube channel. If you prefer to do yoga with instructions in German, you can go to the YouTube channel by Mady Morrison (32) find it. Incense from Palo Santo or an incense bundle made of dried herbs ensure a feel-good atmosphere during the movement sequence.

After the walk or a round of yoga, the relaxing part starts: a warm drink ensures moments of well-being. For example, a pot of herbal tea, which can then be drunk throughout the day. In addition, you can provide a carafe of water with additives such as lemon, ginger, turmeric, orange and mint.

What’s the best way to relax at home?

We live in the age of information overload. We are used to answering the first e-mails before getting up or checking all social media channels over breakfast. A tip to ensure maximum relaxation on a self-care day: It is best to switch your mobile phone to airplane mode first thing in the morning or switch it off completely. What you can learn from this: Suddenly you start doing things consciously for yourself and not for the followers on Instagram.

Instead, you can put together a playlist of relaxing music in the days leading up to your mini break. This can be, for example, classical music or soft piano sounds. Music mixed with nature sounds from the forest or the sea can also create an atmosphere of relaxation.

How the further self-care day at home is structured depends entirely on the respective needs. Taking time out at home is a great way to spend the rest of the day curled up on the sofa with a good book. The following activities are offered as further program items: give yourself a massage or take a full-body or foot bath.

Treat yourself to a massage

You don’t necessarily have to leave the house to enjoy a soothing back massage. A massage brush can work wonders at home. The stimulating movement on the skin stimulates the blood vessels and boosts blood circulation. Such a massage is ideal for preventing and dispelling listlessness and tiredness.

Prepare peeling from body oil and sugar

You don’t have to do without the sauna effect with a day spa in the apartment. A hot bath has a similar effect. By the way, the ideal temperature of the bathing water is between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. It shouldn’t be any hotter. After a hot bath, it is best to lie down on the couch or in bed to rest.

In order to additionally care for the skin, a self-made peeling made of body care oil and sugar can be prepared. After bathing, the peeling is massaged into damp skin until the sugar has melted. Then shower off with water and gently pat your skin dry with a towel. Natural oils without additives – for example from almond or jojoba oil – have a particularly caring effect. Good to know: Oil is better absorbed by the skin when it is still slightly damp.
