Particularly popular with companies, the Ford Transit Custom goes into an electric version with a 74 kWh battery for 380 km of autonomy. Hyperconnected and clever, it is part of the new Ford Pro program.

Although its production should not start until 2023 in Turkey and while waiting for future new diesel and PHEV engines, the Ford Transit in its Custom version is making its electric revolution. To continue to appeal to company fleets and craftsmen, this new E-Transit Custom is adorned with many modern assets, starting with a 100 kW (135 hp) or 160 kW (217 hp) powertrain delivering torque of 415 Nm, powered by a 74 kWh battery. The 82 Ah cells are the same as those of the Ford F-150 Lightning.

The advertised autonomy is 380 km in the WLTP combined cycle and it is possible via its 400 V platform to reach a direct current charging power of up to 125 kW, to go from 15 to 80% in 41 minutes. With the 11 kW on-board charger, you will have to wait between 7 and 8 hours. In addition, it is able to supply up to 2.3 kW in the cabin and the loading area via sockets to power different tools or lights. It is also fitted with a heat pump (steam injection) as standard to heat the passenger compartment while maintaining its autonomy.

Above all, it is, according to the manufacturer, the first 100% electric van offering a towing capacity of 2000 kg. Built on a common platform with Volkswagen, it installs its electric motor at the rear, which frees up space for loading. The length of the cargo can climb up to 3.45 m and the useful volume varies between 5.8 and 9 m³. The maximum payload capacity is 1100 kg. Double cab and combi bodies are also available with a choice of short or long wheelbase and low or high roof. Owners who wish to transport up to five people as well as long objects such as pipes, boards or kayaks can request an L-shaped bulkhead, with a second row of two seats.

The e-Transit Custom is equipped with an independent rear suspension which helps to lower the loading sill and improve steering precision, handling and traction. Van owners generally use them as all-purpose tools but also spend a lot of time in their cabin for lunch or work. Ford offers an optional steering wheel that can be folded down to transform it into a lunch table or a computer stand.
