Forest accident – man injured by chainsaw: son on the spot

A 48-year-old farmer was lucky in his misfortune while working in the forest today. He severely injured his leg while handling his chainsaw. Help came quickly.

A 48-year-old farmer from the Spittal an der Drau district was working with his chainsaw in a forest plot in the Black Forest (Radenthein) at noon today. While limbing a felled tree, he sustained a severe cut on his right leg for reasons that are still unclear. His 24-year-old son, who was also present at the moment, carried out first aid for the man with the 16-year-old boy next door. The 48-year-old was flown to the Klagenfurt clinic with the RK1 rescue helicopter. The Kaning and Radenthein fire brigades supported the rescue workers after the first aid when transporting the patient from the rough terrain.
