Tarkett: activity at half mast in the 1st quarter

(CercleFinance.com) – Tarkett publishes a turnover of 668.1 ME for the 1st quarter of 2024, a decline of 4.3% compared to the same period a year earlier (and -2.7 % organic), mainly due to lower volumes in Europe and North America.

Indeed, on an organic basis, activity fell by -6.3% in the EMEA zone and -6% in North America.

Tarkett indicates that as expected, the start of 2024 was marked by a decline in activity in the flooring sector.

‘High interest rates and persistent inflation have led to the cancellation or postponement of many new construction and renovation projects,’ analyzes Tarkett, which does not expect rapid improvement in the environment.

For 2024, the group indicates that it is aiming for positive cash flow generation and a reduction in debt ‘thanks to rigorous control of working capital requirements and costs, as well as the control of investments which will be allocated as a priority to innovative projects , growth, productivity and decarbonization’.
