Forestry accident – man seriously injured by tree while working in the forest

It was the third serious forestry accident in Upper Austria this week. After two terrible accidents with fatalities in Saxen and Munderfing, a 36-year-old was seriously injured while felling trees in Aschach/Steyr on Saturday afternoon. The man ended up lying under a tree trunk. A colleague managed to remove it.

A falling tree fell on a 36-year-old in Aschach an der Steyr on Saturday morning. He and a colleague had been carrying out logging work in the remote forest area. The local man apparently suffered serious chest and head injuries in the accident. Firefighters had to rescue him from the forest area on a stretcher. He received initial medical care and was flown to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr with the ÖAMTC rescue helicopter “Christophorus 10”.
