The former DWG KIA head coach turned athletic director has been selected to lead the League of Legends team at the 2022 Asian Games.

Kim “kk0ma” Jeong-gyun announced his extension at DWG KIA during the last League of Legends transfer window during the winter, moving to the position of athletic director and leaving the place of head coach to his former analyst Daeny. After two full seasons at the helm of the team, the 36-year-old Korean had completed his trophy showcase with a KeSPA Cup, an LCSK champion title and two finals, at MSI 2021 and Worlds the same year.

An experience that now visibly leads him to a selection at national level. The Korea Sports Association, KeSPA has just announced the appointment of kk0ma as head of the South Korean team for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. The former SK T1 coach will lead the League of Legends national team this year at the 19th Asian Games, from September 10 to 25. Esport will make an entry there for the first time, alongside breakdance in these Olympic Games for the Asian continent.

The coaches of the other Korean esports teams retained by the KeSPA recruitment process have also been announced, for FIFA Online, Hearthstone, PUBG Mobile and Street Fighter V, the games selected by South Korea to participate in the Asian Games. kk0ma must now retain 6 players to form its official roster. The selection will begin next month and will be revealed in June for Games qualifying.
