Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is dead. The Nobel Peace Prize winner and diplomat with German roots died in Connecticut at the age of 100.
The German-born former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is dead. The “distinguished American scholar and statesman” Kissinger died on Wednesday in his home in the US state of Connecticut, said his consulting firm Kissinger Associates. The former foreign minister was 100 years old.
Kissinger served as Secretary of State of the United States from 1973 to 1977. In 1973 he received the Nobel Peace Prize together with the North Vietnamese chief negotiator Le Duc Tho for a ceasefire agreement in the Vietnam War.
Kissinger will be buried at a private ceremony with his family, it was said. A memorial service will take place in New York at a later date.
