Schumacher looks confidently towards the year 2025

For the second year in a row, Mick Schumacher is starting the season as a test and reserve driver for Mercedes. The 24-year-old has not lost his self-confidence. He expects a chance of returning to a regular cockpit in the premier class in 2025.

Mick Schumacher still sees his future in Formula 1. “Because I know that I have the skills for it. I’m good enough,” said the racing driver in an interview with “Sport Bild”. He expects a chance of returning to a regular cockpit in the premier class in 2025. “There will not only be changes in the teams’ cockpits, but one or two drivers may also end their careers,” said the 24-year-old, but made it clear: “I’m the one who has to deliver.”

This year, Schumacher is racing for the French racing team Alpine in the World Endurance Championship. The anticipation of the new challenge is great: “Finally wheel-to-wheel duels with other drivers again.” Alpine team boss Philippe Sinault believes Schumacher will perform well. “He’s a very good driver and a nice guy. He’s willing to work with other drivers and brings that work ethic,” Sinault said at a WEC media call. “He has many qualities to perform well. He is a newcomer, but he is used to working hard.” Sinault promised: “Mick will be ready in Qatar.” The season starts on March 2nd.

Schumacher himself described the legendary 24-hour race at Le Mans in June as his highlight. For him, the long-distance classic is “something very special”. But he also said: “It’s not really my life’s dream. That was always Formula 1.” In 2021 this came true. However, after two years with Team Haas (2021-2022), Schumacher lost his cockpit. He then went to the top team Mercedes as a reserve driver, a role he will also take on in the new season, which starts in Bahrain at the beginning of March.

Despite being in the second tier, Schumacher is self-confident: “What I do a little differently than most drivers is – and I probably got this from my dad – that I can lead a team in the right direction.” The audience hasn’t seen everything about him yet. “I can do more,” said Schumacher.
