Extreme athlete Deichmann begins double USA crossing

There by bike and back on foot – Jonas Deichman wants to cross the USA twice within four months. The start, however, was delayed by two days due to a breakdown. But the 36-year-old wants to catch up.

The German extreme athlete Jonas Deichmann has started his USA tour with a two-day delay. He finally got his bike back and now he can start in New York, the 36-year-old said in a video clip on Instagram. He started cycling near the Brooklyn Bridge.

Deichmann had landed in New York on Tuesday and was due to start on Wednesday, but the bike was lost on the way. The German said he had now found out that it had been left on a luggage trolley when it was unloaded at the airport. Now he will pedal harder to make up for the two-day deficit.

The athlete, who has already crossed several continents by bike, wants to cycle to the Pacific coast of the USA in around three and a half weeks. From there, the “German Forrest Gump” wants to walk all the way back in about 100 days. A total of 5439 kilometers on the bike and 5041 kilometers on the run are on the plan. The adventurer gives himself a good four months for his “awesome challenge”; after all, he wants to celebrate Christmas in a relaxed manner back in Germany.

From September 2020 to November 2021 he circumnavigated the world in a “Triathlon 360” – and was there according to their own statements swam a total of 450 kilometers, had cycled more than 20,000 kilometers and completed 120 marathons.
