Forspoken: the release date of the new Square Enix game postponed again, the publisher explains…

Here is one that is long overdue. Forspokenthe new big-budget role-playing game from Square-Enix and Luminous Productions following us a human transported to an unknown magical and dangerous world should have seen the light of day on May 24, 2022, before its release date was moved to October 11.

Guess what ? The publisher has already confirmed that he would not be able to keep his schedule, and that the release date of Forspoken was shifted again. It is now planned to be released on PS5 and PC January 24, 2023. Strangely, this time, the delay would not be due to development concerns, which would currently be already in “its final phase of optimization”, but to a “strategic decision” decided with “privileged partners”.

After discussions with our preferred partners, we have made the strategic decision to postpone the launch of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All elements of the game are now complete, and development is entering its final optimization phase.

We would like to thank you for your patience and for the ongoing support that accompanies us on this journey. Your enthusiasm inspires us every day and we look forward to telling you more about Forspoken over the summer!

Would the decision be wanted by Sony Interactive Entertainmentwhich probably paid for the temporary exclusivity of the title and plans to break everything with the launch of God of War Ragnarok in November ? Or to the already busy schedule of Square-Enixwhich will launch the RPG Valkyrie Elysium, Star Ocean: The Divine Force and The DioField Chronicle these next few months? No one knows at the moment. Still, if you’re impatient, Forspoken can be pre-ordered from €74.99 on Amazon.co.uk. Square-Enix also announces in passing that news of the game will be given during the summer.
