Fort Boyard: a youtuber enters the fort, the show files a complaint

TAlways higher, always further, always stronger. This slogan, well known to fans of the France 2 game show “Fort Boyard” could well evolve and become: “Always”. As our colleagues from BFMTV report, a video creator on the YouTube platform is the subject of a complaint from the production company Adventure Line Productions. Why ? The latter illegally entered the eponymous fort of the show last September and filmed a video there, posted last June and spotted at the end of August by the regional daily South West.

“I infiltrated Fort Boyard”, writes the youtubeur Max Von Croft, as a title for his video. In the latter, he explains that he returned to the old military fortress after having sailed, in the middle of the night, for 2.5 kilometers. “The whole thing, for a 25 to 30 meter abseil on a fort in the middle of the night, it was magnificent, it’s the kind of adventure that we love”, he proudly declares. According to information from our colleagues, the filming of this video took place in September 2021. However, at this time of the year, Fort Boyard is completely deserted, the production company only using the building between the months March and July, for filming needs and the restoration of the building.

The production wants to avoid “a drama”

The fact remains that such a visit is prohibited. Indeed, although the fort does not belong to the television game show of France 2 – but to the departmental council of Charente-Maritime -, it is, since the end of the 1980s, used exclusively for the production of the emission of the Of them. Result, Max Von Croft is the subject of legal proceedings, on behalf of ALP. “He had a dangerous behavior, it was necessary to mark the occasion not to give ideas to others, otherwise we will find ourselves one day or another with a drama”, justifies the company to BFMTV.

In his video, still accessible this Sunday, September 4, the young man visits a good part of the monument which now has an international reputation: the tower of Father Fouras, the infirmary intended for the candidates or even the ad- hoc built on one of the flanks of the fort. The latter is used for the broadcast to bring all participants into the fortress in a secure manner. And the video creator continues: “I’m not going to show you too much of the proof decor, because you risk being extremely disappointed, because it’s really cardboard, (…) this is only hollow, only fake. The production will appreciate.

For acts of home invasion – which does not only apply to a main or secondary residence – the young man risks up to one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros. Contacted by our colleagues from BFMTV, the production explains that “nothing has been degraded or stolen”. However, the objective of the complaint is to have a dissuasive effect on people who would be tempted to climb the walls of Fort Boyard.
