Epic Games has now returned to cruising speed for Fortnite following the end of year celebrations. Cowabunga is coming now in the February 9 patch of Fortnite Battle Royale update 28.20! Wield weapons like Leo’s katanas or Mikey’s nunchaku and unlock in-game Ninja Turtles rewards. The Cowabunga event will end on February 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. (CET)!
Get your hands on returning items, including the Hoverboard and Pizza Party, while completing Cowabunga quests to obtain mutagen. Earn Mutagen to gradually advance on the path to free Cowabunga rewards! The final reward of this path is one of Donnie’s most ingenious inventions: The Turtle Airship.
If you purchase the Cowabunga bonus track, you automatically unlock the Shredder outfit. The bonus track offers additional rewards that you can unlock alongside the free rewards. Reinforced by the same mutagen that animated the four turtles, the Super Shredder outfit is the final reward of this path. Are you a fan of LEGO Fortnite? The Shredder and Super Shredder outfits both have their LEGO version!
UNLEASH THE POWER OF THE TURTLES
Whether it’s Leo’s katanas, Raph’s saïs, Mikey’s nunchaku or Donnie’s bô, you will have access to the same four skills (with slightly different stats depending on the weapon):
- Attack : Hold down the main fire button to rain down shots.
- Mid-air attack : While in the air, press the primary fire button to perform a devastating aerial attack.
- Offensive Rush : Press the secondary fire button to perform a dash with your weapon.
- Double jump : As long as you are equipped with one of the weapons, you can jump while you are in the air!
All four weapons have three charges, with each charge having a 10 second cooldown. Charges are consumed during mid-air attacks and offensive dashes. You will find these weapons in chests, supply drops and vending machines!
AT THE TURTLES’ TURN !
After the combat chore, it’s aeroboarding and unlimited pizzas! Aeroboards Ninja Turtles are just waiting for your prowess on the island! Show off your acrobatic skills, then enjoy a pizza night by grabbing a hot slice.
Need a little reminder about boxes Pizza night ? These offer eight slices of pizza to share with your teammates or to devour all by yourself. Each part restores HP and shield simultaneously, with a maximum of 100 shield points. Find Pizza Party boxes on the ground and in chests, or exchange them for ingots with Splinter!
Forgiveness is divine. Like pizza cooked to perfection.
COWABUNGA QUESTS
Surveying the island’s sewers? Or buy Raph’s saïs from a vending machine? So congratulations, you are completing the Cowabunga quests! By completing certain objectives of these quests, you obtain mutagen which allows you to gradually unlock rewards! Head over to the Cowabunga tab in the lobby to look at your mutagen amount and what rewards you can still get. (Hint: You can also complete quests by earning EXP on designer islands!)

On this screen, you can see the rewards for the free lane as well as those for the bonus lane, which is available for 1,000 V-Bucks. The free path unlocks 11 rewards, including the Ninja Turtles Pizza back accessory and the Mutagen coating. Mikey isn’t the only one making music. One of the rewards is bass Kuro Kabutoto make the island vibrate! The Turtle Airship Glider is the final reward of this path:
By purchasing the Bonus Path, you unlock additional rewards as you unlock those in the Free Path (without needing to complete any additional quests). Upon purchasing this route, you automatically receive the Shredder outfit ! Shredder has a Fortnite version and a LEGO version.

The bonus path offers 11 rewards to unlock, including Shredder’s Steel Claws pickaxe, Super Shredder’s Cape back accessory, and of course, the final reward: Super Shredder ! The Super Shredder outfit offers a Fortnite version and a LEGO version.

GO, NINJAS! THE SIX PHASES OF COWABUNGA
The Cowabunga quests are divided into six phases, each representing an objective of the turtles. The phases will become available gradually until February 27 at 3 p.m. (CET).
- Quests Stay in the shadows are available now.
- Quests Let’s team up! start on February 12 at 3:00 p.m. (CET).
- Quests The Battle of Cowabunga start on February 15 at 3:00 p.m. (CET).
- Quests Send them back to their shells start on February 18 at 3:00 p.m. (CET).
- Quests The total confrontation start on February 21 at 3:00 p.m. (CET).
- Quests Celebration start on February 24 at 3:00 p.m. (CET).
Once you complete five quests in a phase, you unlock that phase’s Krang Blueprint. Get all six of Krang’s blueprints to unlock the Krang back accessory !
Note: Cowabunga Free Lane rewards, Bonus Lane items, and the Krang Back Bling are not exclusive to the Cowabunga event. These items may become available in the Item Shop or otherwise at a later date.
YES MASTER: SPLINTER IS AVAILABLE IN THE ITEM SHOP !
The stoic sage doesn’t always stay in the back room. Splinter, Ninja Master and Adoptive Father of the Turtles, is available in the Item Shop of Fortnite on the occasion of Cowabunga! The Splinter outfit has a Fortnite version and a LEGO version.
