Fortnite: the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, the tool that will revolutionize the creation of levels in Creative mode launched very soon

It’s been a few months sinceEpic Games discreetly prepares a mode Creative 2.0 For Fortnite. It will finally materialize in a few days, with a beta on which the publisher has just communicated: le software Unreal Editor for Fortnite will indeed land on theEpic Games Store March 22.

This PC application requiring to have the base game installed will allow you to create your game levels more freely, without having to embody a character on the map as is currently the case in mode Creative. This will give us access to a host of new tools and options to design even more advanced experiences, taking more advantage of the power ofUnreal Engine 5. I’UEFN does not provide access to the full range of customization elements of theEU5but will offer from its beta many possibilities adapted to Fortnite.

The Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) is a new PC application for designing, developing, and publishing games and experiences directly within Fortnite. With Unreal Engine 5’s many powerful tools and workflows at your disposal, including custom asset import, modeling, materials, visual effects, Sequencer and Control Rig, a sea of options is available to you to create and publish games and experiences for Fortnite accessible to millions of players.

The UEFN rounds out Fortnite’s Creative mode toolkit. It allows teams of creators to collaborate on PC and consoles to develop and test their islands in real time.

The new Verse programming language is also included. It offers powerful customization possibilities, like manipulating and linking devices and the ability to easily create new game logic.

What can you do with UEFN?
The UEFN builds on the concepts used in Fortnite’s Creative mode toolkit, with the addition of new features and possibilities. The beta release provides creators with an early version of the UEFN that will evolve based on their feedback. With this UEFN beta, you will be able to:

  • Create custom content with Modeling and Material tools.
  • Import meshes, textures, animations and audio content.
  • Use Niagara to create visual effects.
  • Animate with Control Rig and Sequencer.
  • Design gameplay with Verse.
  • Design landscapes to flesh out the environment.
  • Create larger experiences with World Partition.
  • Use Fab to discover and import resources.
  • Use Live Edit to collaborate in real time with other creators.
  • Take advantage of built-in revision control to collaborate with Skein.

How is UEFN different from Creative Mode in Fortnite?
The UEFN is a PC-only editor that combines the 3D porthole way of working with the creative tools (Devices) of Fortnite’s Creative mode. This means that unlike Fortnite’s Creative mode where you build and modify your islands by controlling a character in Fortnite, creators have access to the Unreal Editor’s range of tools and workflows on PC. This has many similarities to the one used by Epic Games to develop Fortnite Battle Royale.

How does UEFN differ from Unreal Engine 5?
The UEFN is designed to create experiences for Fortnite. This means that every experience you create is published on the Fortnite platform to reach an audience of millions of players. To do this, UEFN combines the creative tools of Fortnite’s Creative mode with the Unreal Editor, allowing creators familiar with the Unreal Engine to develop content for Fortnite using a familiar interface.

The UEFN Beta provides creators with an early version of the UEFN. Unreal Engine creators will find many familiar tools and workflows as well as some differences and limitations not found in the Unreal Engine. For example, unlike the Unreal Engine, the UEFN uses Fortnite’s Creative mode creation tools, known as devices, as the main building blocks for creating game mechanics and these devices can be combined with a new programming language called Verse.

The UEFN will evolve during the Beta phase to add features of the Unreal Editor that aficionados are already familiar with, but also to allow them to control additional aspects of their Fortnite experience and to expand the capabilities of the API and of the Verse framework.

We are already looking forward to seeing what the best players will be able to do with this tool, who will of course be able to share their creations on a multi-platform. lovers of free-to-play phenomenon can otherwise always provide skins and other cosmetics via of the V Bucks notably sold on Amazon.co.uk.
