A small update was deployed this Tuesday, January 11 on Fortnite, which adds random environmental events. Tornadoes and thunderstorms are indeed established and will, despite everything, recover some bonuses. A new weapon is also making its arrival, or rather its return, the high-roller pistol.

Fortnite update 19.01, details

The weather has never been so unpredictable in Fortnite. Following the update rolled out this Tuesday, January 11, players will have a chance during their game to see a tornado form. If fleeing is one option, sticking around is another, since tornadoes, but also thunderstorms have many uses, which we explain below.

  • Jumping into the tornado will allow you to move to another point. You can kick it out at any time, or wait until the event ends, for it to spit out at you. No fall damage will be suffered.
  • Dark clouds from thunderstorms can also benefit you, since the lightning bolts will give you a speed boost, even if you take some damage. Note that these lightning also inflame nearby areas.

In fact, until January 17, tornadoes will be more likely to appear in your games, during Tornado Week.

As we told you above, the High Pistol is making a comeback on the battlefield, as it comes out of the shed. A new way to ignite structures or your opponents. You’ll find it as loot on the ground, in chests, and in Supply Drops.

Finally, note that tornadoes and thunderstorms are not included in competitive modes at this time.

One competition is organized with our partner Instant Gaming, which allows you to leave with the video game of your choice, from FIFA credits or some V-bucks.
