Four corona fates – unvaccinated people, read these stories!

The death of a mother of three, a pregnant woman in intensive care for months and two delayed operations. Four tragic fates.

The occupancy in the intensive care units is steadily increasing. For this reason, urgent operations have to be postponed, as was the case with 15-year-old Iris, who has been waiting for a spine operation for months. Unfortunately, there are no individual fates that take place there. And more and more people are affected when you look at the rapidly increasing number of new infections and occupied intensive care beds. We portray four heartbreaking dramas:

Iris Tesarik is 15 years old, severely disabled and sits in a wheelchair. Sclerosis was diagnosed in January 2020. Since then she has been waiting eagerly for an appointment. The 15-year-old should finally have had an operation in November, but now the operation has been canceled for the third time. The operation is urgent, because if the iris grows, the chances of success of an intervention decrease. The adolescent has to take strong pain relievers every day. “It’s not up to the doctors, they would even operate on you at Christmas,” says her mother Astrid. She has had enough of the unvaccinated people who are occupying the beds, and her daughter may soon be bedridden because of it.

A 26-year-old pregnant woman tested positive for Corona in the summer. She was not vaccinated and became so ill that she had to go to the General Hospital. The expectant mother was in the intensive care unit from late August to early November. The child has now been brought in by emergency caesarean section. Only now did her condition improve, and she was transferred to a normal ward on Friday. For the first time she was able to hold her child in her arms.

Elgouth Montassar took everything from Corona, first his parents, then his wife and now his job. The family drama happened, as reported, in the summer when the family of five traveled to Tunisia, the grandparents died in quick succession, and then the mother of three tested positive for Corona. She also succumbed to the virus on September 13th. Since then, Father Elgouth has been on his own. Until recently he was a baker and worked night shifts. Since he cannot leave the children alone overnight, he had to quit the job. He got vaccinated immediately after his wife’s tragic death.

Sona Strummer also suffered a tragic fate. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and waited for weeks for the operation at Vienna General Hospital. Since she needed an intensive care bed after the operation and none was free, surgery appointments that had been scheduled several times had to be canceled, although her state of health visibly deteriorated.

All of these fates make one thing clear: the virus affects us all.
