In Amsterdam (Netherlands) late on Friday evening five people were injured, some seriously, by knife stabs, one of the victims died on the spot. According to initial reports from the police and local media, a suspect has been arrested.
Several ambulances arrived at the scene, and medical helicopters and a police helicopter circled over the shopping street in the De Pijp district. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Initially, there was no information available about the background to the offense. However, the first investigations had shown that there was no direct evidence of a terrorist motive, the police said on Saturday morning. (SDA)
