Four inmates injured in a “general fight” at Saint-Martin-de-Ré prison

The other two injured were taken care of in the infirmary of the penitentiary establishment. One was hit in the head by a pétanque ball and the other received a blow to the head. The sharp object was not found after the brawl, according to the prosecution, which opened an investigation for “intentional violence with weaponsentrusted to the research brigade of La Rochelle and the gendarmerie of Saint-Martin-de-Ré.

The investigation should in particular seek to understand the reason for the brawls, which took place around 5:00 p.m. The detainees then refused to return to their cells but were all able to be reinstated around 9:00 p.m., according to the prosecution.
