The startup Framework, which offers a modular and scalable laptop PC, announces the upcoming availability of motherboards equipped with 12th generation Intel processors. She takes the opportunity to update the cover of the Laptop and offers a 2.5G Ethernet module.

Framework continues on its merry way, and it goes without saying that we are waiting for it at the turn. The brand having promised to update the motherboard of its laptop PC with the arrival of new generations of processors, we were impatiently waiting for it to offer its motherboards based on 12th generation Intel Alder Lake processors.
It is now done. Three motherboards are thus offered with a Core i5-1240P (12C/16T), a Core i7-1260P (12C/16T) and a Core i7-1280P (16C/20T). An interesting update in terms of performance, since the Core i7-1260P was particularly convincing during our tests of the ZenBook 14 Oled from Asus or the Galaxy Book 2 Pro 15 from Samsung in comparison with the older generation.
It is now possible to order motherboards to update the Laptop Framework at the respective prices of 489, 799 and 1189 €. Despite Intel’s Alder Lake processors’ DDR5 support, Framework retained the DDR4 slots, making upgrading less expensive.
New 2.5G RJ45 shell and module
Framework does not stop there and will provide a new aluminum cover machined from a single block by numerical control. This manufacturing process makes the hull more rigid, and the company is working with its supplier to increase the amount of recycled material, which currently stands at 75%. As for the modules, an extension with an RJ45 port to the 2.5 Gb/s standard should appear at the end of the year.

The new motherboards or laptops equipped with 12th generation Intel processors are already on pre-order for delivery in June. We will try to provide you with an updated test with one of these processors as soon as possible.
