France: 0.2% increase in job seekers in Q4


(CercleFinance.com) – In mainland France, the number of job seekers in category A increased by 0.2% (+5,600) in the 4th quarter of 2023 and decreased by 0.4% over one year according to Dares.

In total, the number of job seekers in categories A, B, C increased by 1.0% over this quarter (+53,000) and fell by 0.4% over one year.

On average in the fourth quarter of 2023, in mainland France, the number of people registered with France Travail and required to look for a job (categories A, B, C) stands at 5,129,600 according to Dares. Among them, 2,824,400 people are unemployed (category A) and 2,305,200 are in reduced activity (categories B, C).

In France (including the overseas departments-regions, excluding Mayotte), the number of job seekers stands at 3,033,300 for category A. It increased by 0.2% over the quarter ( -0.6% over one year). For categories A, B, C this number stands at 5,406,000. It increases by 1.0% over this quarter and by 0.3% over one year indicates Dares.
