France: Composite PMI at a 32-month low

(CercleFinance.com) – The HCOB composite flash PMI index of overall activity in France fell to 46.6 in July (vs. 47.2 in June), a 32-month low, reflecting the sharpest decline in activity in the private sector since November 2020.

The downturn in activity that began the previous month thus continued, a trend reflecting a further drop in demand, which in turn resulted in a further reduction in cases in progress in companies.

At the same time, employment growth posted its weakest level since the start of the year, despite the first upturn in confidence observed since March. The survey data also signal a further easing in inflationary pressures.
