From March onwards, a certain French department may only be entered with a negative PCR test. Commuters are excluded.

So now France too: Due to the massive accumulation of highly contagious coronavirus variants, the Ministry of Health and Europe in Paris has tightened the entry rules for parts of the German border area. Accordingly, from March 1st, only people with a negative PCR test will be allowed to enter the Moselle administrative district. Commuters and other business travelers are excluded from this.

In the department with a direct border to the German federal states of Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate, the South African variant is particularly widespread. More than a million people live in Moselle with the capital Metz. The French ministry announced increased border controls, and the testing and vaccination strategy would be promoted. The incidence there is currently over 300 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants.
