France: Food prices in supermarkets continue to climb-Insee


Aug 12 (Reuters) – The prices of consumer products sold in supermarkets in France rose in July by 6.4% year on year, according to figures published on Friday by INSEE, an eighth consecutive monthly acceleration.

Prices of meat sold in supermarkets in the country climbed 9.0% year on year, after 7.2% in June, the institute said in a statement. Those of beverages accelerated by 4.6% over one year, against 3.6% the previous month.

INSEE also confirmed on Friday that inflation in France calculated according to European standards had reached 6.8?%????? over a year in July. (Report Juliette Portala in Gdansk, edited by Kate Entringer)
