France: household consumption rebounded by 0.7% in May after five months of decline


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Household consumption of goods in France rebounded 0.7% over one month in May, after five months of decline, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies said on Thursday. (INSEE).

The evolution of consumer spending for April has been revised down by 30 basis points, to -0.7%.

The rebound in household consumption of goods in France last month was almost exclusively due to a 2.7% increase in consumption of manufactured goods, after a 1.3% drop in April, INSEE said. Food consumption remained stable (+0.1% in May, after -1.2% in April) and energy consumption fell by 2.6% in May, after rising 1.9% in April .
