France: new vehicle registrations fell by 15.1% in December

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones) – New passenger car registrations in France fell 15.1% over one year in raw data last December, the Automotive Platform (PFA) announced on Saturday, which brings together the sector in the Hexagon.

Last month, France recorded 158,118 registrations, against 186,323 a year earlier, knowing that December 2021 had one more working day than December 2020.

Stellantis posted a smaller decline than the French market as a whole, with registrations falling 14.6% last month. Renault resisted the drop in unit sales even better in France, posting an 11.3% drop in registrations in December.

Over the whole of 2021, new vehicle registrations increased by 0.5% in France over one year in raw data, to 1,659,004 units, added the PFA.
