France: slight GDP growth in the 4th quarter

(CercleFinance.com) – In the fourth quarter of 2023, the evolution of France’s gross domestic product (GDP) in volume terms is slightly revised upwards and reaches +0.1% (compared to stagnation announced in the first estimate), according to detailed data from INSEE.

Final domestic demand excluding stocks contributed negatively to the evolution of GDP (-0.1 point), with stagnation in household consumption and a 0.9% decline in gross fixed capital formation (GFCF).

The positive contribution of foreign trade (+0.9 points), due to a 2.3% drop in imports while exports remained stable, was offset by a negative contribution from inventory variations (-0. 7 point).
