The French team’s 4x400m men’s relay won the silver medal at the Indoor Athletics Euros on Sunday in Istanbul, the second tricolor medal. Gilles Biron, Téo Andant, Victor Coroller and Muhammad Abdallah Kounta ran in 3 min 06 sec 52, behind Belgium (3:05.83) but just ahead of the Netherlands (3:06.59), in this direct final event with the six top European teams.

“There was mayhem, jostling from the first lap, we all remained lucid. We had come for a medal, we are happy. It is a continuation of the summer with the bronze medal in the relay at the Munich Euro”, commented Téo Andant in the mixed zone.

“The medals remain”

“The team changes but the medals remain. We gain experience in these medal races, it brings dynamism and confidence, that’s what has been happening for several years in the 400m in France, a added Victor Coroller. Everyone dreams of being part of the Olympic Games in Paris, it pushes us all to be better from month to month to be in the four of the relay in Paris and to play for the medal too.”

The Netherlands dominated the women’s relay as expected, bringing Femke Bol a fourth gold medal in two editions of the European Indoor Championships (two doubles in the 400 and 4×400 m relay).
