Frankfurt celebrates stage victory
Court overturns ban on Eintracht fans in Naples

The second leg in the round of 16 of the Champions League is massively difficult for Eintracht Frankfurt anyway. The fact that no German fans should be allowed at SSC Naples outrages the Bundesliga soccer team and the supporters alike. A court is now overturning this rule – a stage victory.

Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has achieved a partial success in the fight to get its fans admitted to the Champions League game at SSC Naples. As reported by the Hessians, the competent administrative court has granted Eintracht’s application for the temporary injunction to be issued.

According to the club, the last ban on the sale of tickets for people residing in Germany was declared illegal. Naples will “until further notice to provide Eintracht Frankfurt with a total of 2,700 guest tickets.”

But that’s not a final decision before the round of 16 second leg on Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN and in the ntv.de live ticker). The Eintracht side said: “Nevertheless, it is to be expected that the Prefecture of Naples will appeal this decision of the administrative court, which will be decided on Monday or Tuesday of the coming week.” So the game goes on, noted Eintracht board member Philipp Reschke.

“Milestone” for Eintracht lawyers

The Italian Ministry of the Interior had issued an injunction against the Serie A leaders, according to which they are not allowed to sell tickets for the game to Frankfurt supporters. With their own disposal, the Hessians had not expected too many chances.

“This is of course a great satisfaction, a milestone that was also unexpected for our Italian lawyers. But on the one hand we have to reorganize everything that we and many others had to cancel in the past few days, from ticket orders to travel and transport organization and much more more,” said Reschke. In addition, everything is “under reserve”. The Europa League winner from Frankfurt announced that he would contact all those “who had originally been promised a ticket from the guest contingent” at short notice.

The Europa League winner lost the first leg in Frankfurt 2-0. There had been some violent attacks and arrests around the stadium around the game. To prevent such riots from happening again, no tickets should be sold to away fans.
