Franziska Knuppe: Top model reveals how to lose weight in the long term – without a diet!

The German top model Franziska Knuppe knows how you can lose those annoying kilos in the long term without making any major sacrifices. In her book “Slim Without Detours” she gives valuable weight loss tips.

It’s hard to imagine for a top model: she’s never been on a diet in her life, doesn’t give up bread and loves pasta. But that’s exactly what Franziska Knuppe, 49, said in a conversation with presenter Annika Lau, 44, on GALA on TV (Saturdays, 5:45 p.m.). The mother of a 17-year-old daughter doesn’t believe in classic model diets that are neither balanced nor have anything to do with enjoyment. On the contrary, she wants to encourage a healthier option to lose weight.

With her book “Slim without detours: How conscious eating and simple routines finally lead you to your goal – the Knuppe principle – without having to sacrifice anything – with delicious recipes for every day” she wants to show that weight loss can actually be achieved without stress. But what is important in your nutritional concept?

Less is more!

Most people eat significantly more than they should. Whether it’s a cake with a latte macchiato in the afternoon or a second helping of food for dinner – many people often don’t even notice when they eat more food than they consume in the day. And even a regular, small excess of energy every day can lead to weight gain in the long term. “Anyone who has gained ten kilograms in ten years has consistently eaten only 20 calories more per day than they consumed,” writes Franziska Knuppe in her book. And that’s exactly what’s important: learning to save these calories more often.

Recognize nutritional routines

“If someone who used to consistently have 20 calories too many now eats around 120 calories less, they will lose 4.5 kilograms after just one and a half years,” writes Franziska Knuppe in her book, adding that anyone who increases their energy balance by 200 every day If you go below the calorie count, for example skipping a cappuccino and two cookies, you would be able to lose a whopping 3.5 kilos in six months.

To find out when a person is consuming too much, the model recommends keeping a food diary. You should write down exactly what you eat and when for at least seven days. This makes it clear where you can save calories. It is important to also note down the drinks you consume. What many people underestimate: Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages often contain a lot of calories that could often easily be avoided. She also recommends weighing yourself every morning for seven days. In this way, the average and target weight can be determined.

The mindful Knuppe principle

Once you have thoroughly listed your eating routine, it’s time to evaluate it. It is crucial to recognize which foods are unnecessary. Honestly ask yourself what you could live without every day. This isn’t supposed to be a whole meal. This is about the little things that we often snack on unnoticed and treat ourselves to every now and then.

The way you eat also plays a big role. Anyone who quickly stuffs a roll into their mouth on the way to work or rushes through sushi during their lunch break will often automatically eat more food than their body needs.

We should stop eating when we are truly full. Because our feeling of satiety only sets in after 20 minutes and gives the signal that the body has had enough. That’s why it’s important to consciously take time and rest for each meal. Eating slowly is good for digestion and satiety. Anyone who eats mindfully and consumes less than they consume will automatically lose weight.

Those with a sweet tooth don’t have to give up everything!

Are you having a hard time giving up sweets? The 49-year-old then advises not to buy a lot of sweet foods and to consciously treat yourself to things like cookies, cake or popcorn on one or two days a week. It’s best to keep an eye on the crowd. The motto: a little of everything, but not too much and really enjoy it!
