The auction house Sotheby’s is auctioning numerous items from Freddie Mercury’s estate. The highlight of the collection is a piano.

Hundreds of items related to the life and career of the Queen legend Freddie Mercury (1946-1991) go under the hammer. Several auctions by the well-known auction house Sotheby’s in London are preceded by an exhibition in which countless objects from the singer’s estate can be examined.

The auction house invites fans “Freddie Mercury – A World of His Own” Enter the world of the legendary Queen singer and, starting today, August 4th, bring access to “some of the most exciting and rarest examples of artifacts from a true 20th-century legend”. The exhibition in London runs until September 5th.

In a subsequent series of auctions starting September 6th, wealthy music lovers can then purchase numerous of the extraordinary pieces. These include paintings, pieces of furniture, jewellery, clothing and notebooks.

Among the special highlights for fans are certainly some of the unusual stage costumes that Mercury wore on tour – including the black and white catsuit, the can be seen in the video for “We Are The Champions”., for an estimated £10,000 to £15,000. His well-known crown with matching cape is already at an estimated £60,000 to £80,000.

However, lovers have to dig much deeper into their pockets for lyrics to several songs. For example, a draft of the text of “Bohemian Rhapsody” is listed for an estimated value of 800,000 to 1.2 million pounds. The absolute highlight is meanwhile a Yamaha G2 Baby grand piano, on which the same Queen hit and numerous other songs by Mercury are said to have been written. The estimated value of the instrument is between two and three million pounds.
