As a supporting actor in many films, Frederic Forrest has made a name for himself in Hollywood. He has now passed away at the age of 86.

He only played a few leading roles, but was all the more successful as a supporting actor: Frederic Forrest shaped many Hollywood films. He has now passed away at the age of 86. As a farewell, his colleague Bette Midler (77) and director Francis Ford Coppola (84) published touching statements.

“He was a remarkable actor”

Forrest passed away on June 23 at his home in Santa Monica after a long illness “The Hollywood Reporter” with and refers to his colleague Barry Primus (85). Bette Midler paid tribute to the deceased as “a remarkable actor and a brilliant human being”. She was lucky to have him in her life, she wrote on twitter.

Midler and Forrest starred together in the movie The Rose (1979). The role of rock diva Mary Rose Foster was her film debut and she was nominated for an Oscar for best actress. He played her down-to-earth chauffeur. He received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his performance as Best Supporting Actor. The National Society of Film Critics honored him for Best Supporting Actor.

Francis Ford Coppola is also mourning

Frederic Forrest worked several times with director Francis Ford Coppola – for example in “The Dialogue” (1974), “Apocalypse Now” (1979) and “Tucker” (1988). Coppola posted several snapshots on Instagram about the death of his supporting actor and paid tribute to him by saying: “Freddie Forrest was a sweet, very loved one, a wonderful actor and a good friend. His loss is heartbreaking for me.”

The Texan native has appeared in more than 80 film and television productions during his career. He started his career at the theater in New York. His last film was “The Power Game” in 2006. Frederic Forrest has been twice divorced. He leaves behind his two children Mia and Max.
