Like Orange with its Protected Home, Free launched into home protection with the Security Pack of its Freebox Delta, but it returns today with a less “exclusive” offer since it is aimed at both to subscribers of the new Freebox Ultra (which replaces the Delta, by the way), as well as to Freebox Pop and Revolution Light subscribers. And the telecoms troublemaker intends to strike once again. Rather than developing its own offering, Free is joining forces with a young actor whom it does not hesitate to present as the “free from remote surveillance” in reference to its overall aggressive prices. And on which Free subscribers will be able to benefit from a 20% discount.

€200 for equipment and €15.99/month for remote monitoring

The offer in question consists first of all of equipment. They are sold in packs. Qiara offers several depending on the accommodation, but the Free offer only entitles you to the Essential pack, rather recommended for apartments and “small” accommodations with only one access. It is therefore the least complete, but it still includes a 1080p HD surveillance camera, a motion detector, an opening detector, a siren and a keyboard, a total of 5 pieces of equipment that Qiara offers at the price of €249. Free subscribers will be able to benefit from it for €200, and purchase additional equipment individually if necessary.

Free x Qiara offer

The Free x Qiara offer was presented on March 26 in Paris.

Added to this equipment are various services, again grouped into several offers, with the difference that all will be accessible to Free subscribers. The first, free, gives access to live images and alerts, but does not allow you to benefit from recordings. Sharing access with other members of the household is also not possible. To do this, you will need to opt for at least the Qiara Plus plan which also allows you to benefit from intelligent alerts (to avoid false alerts caused by animals in particular) and an emergency connection in the event of an outage for €7.99 /month (instead of €9.99/month), while the Qiara Ultra plan adds to this a 24/7 remote monitoring service for €15.99/month (instead of €19.99/month) .

In comparison, Orange’s Maison Protégée offer for apartments is priced at €29.99/month (€39.99/month for houses), but the equipment is included for rental. The Free offer is therefore cheaper, but only once the price of the equipment has been amortized. In all cases, the operators’ offers remain less expensive than that of the main player in the market: Verisure, with paid equipment and subscription from €29.99/month.
