Free sentenced to a fine of 300,000 euros by the CNIL

The National Commission for Computing and Liberties (CNIL) on Thursday, December 8, sanctioned the telephone operator Free with a fine of 300,000 euros for not having respected “people’s rights” and “data security” of its users.

The announcement of this significant fine of 300,000 euros, which takes into account “the size and financial condition of the company”is justified by “the need to recall the importance of processing personal rights requests and securing user data”, insisted the Commission. In January, the subsidiary of the Iliad group had already been sanctioned by the CNIL with a fine of the same amount for similar reasons.
