Princess Charlotte celebrated her ninth birthday on May 2, 2024. Prince William experienced a real rollercoaster of emotions on this special day. However, his daughter was less responsible for this than the ball sport that was close to his heart…

Fans of the Wales family were allowed to visit on Thursday, May 2, 2024 a new portrait of Princess Charlotte. Mum Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, took it to mark her daughter’s ninth birthday and was probably bursting with pride. Prince William, 41, also had an emotional day – albeit away from his family.

Prince William was cheering for his favorite club in the stadium

He spent at least the evening at the football stadium in Birmingham and watched the Europa Conference League semi-final game between Aston Villa and the Greek visiting team Olympiacos FC. In the stands he cheered along with other spectators and witnessed the 2:4 defeat of his favorite club.

The self-confessed Villa fan experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. Pictures show the heir to the throne gesticulating, clapping, cheering, frowning worriedly and covering his face with his hands. In one shot he can be seen celebrating an Aston Villa goal, which was later disallowed due to a foul in the game.

Emergency in the stands

The second half of the game was delayed for 45 minutes due to a medical emergency in one of the stands. As the television channel “TNT Sports” confirmed according to “The Independent” during half-time, a fan suffered a cardiac arrest, whereupon the visitors had to clear the entire block.

So Prince William probably only returned to his family in Windsor late that evening – if at all. Birthday girl Charlotte was probably already slumbering blissfully at this point.
