The Freebox V9 is long overdue. While Xavier Niel confirmed last October a launch by the end of 2023, the new generation of Free boxes has still not given any sign of life. However, things could change at the start of the year, as suggested by a publication on the official Instagram account of the ISP and mobile operator, but also on Twitter/X.
The launch date of the Freebox V9 teased on Instagram
Saturday January 13, 2024, Free shared a post including four images bringing together its current and future internet boxes. Taking the form of a Tinder profile, each is entitled to an astrological sign: Sagittarius for the Freebox Revolution and the Freebox Delta, Cancer for the Freebox Pop and… Aquarius for the Freebox V9.
Astrological signs which directly refer to the launch date of these devices. For example, the Freebox Revolution was available during the Sagittarius period, more precisely on December 14, 2010, while the Freebox Pop was marketed during the Cancer period, on July 7, 2020.
For the Freebox V9, bearing the Aquarius sign, the launch should logically take place during the period corresponding to this astrological sign, i.e. between Sunday January 21 and Monday February 19, 2024. Free having the habit of organizing its presentations on Tuesday, we should discover this new generation of boxes on January 23, January 30, February 6 or February 13, 2024.
A blurred design on Twitter/X
On January 16, the Twitter/X account continued the tease by publishing an image winking at the sensitive content automatically blurred on the platform. Instead of the traditional warning text, it reads: “Extra sensitive publication. This photo contains sensitive content on our next Freebox. In order not to spoil it for you, the publication is not visible at the moment.“
Unfortunately, the Show button, which usually reveals sensitive content, is not included. It is therefore impossible to see what the Freebox V9 looks like, which leaves a little suspense before its official release in the coming weeks.
