After having revolutionized the Telecom sector, Xavier Niel is now preparing to tackle the banking sector with his new fintech Stancer. On social networks, we can read that “ the payment revolution is coming “, and we find the image of a rocket on the official website of the company, which is reminiscent of the launch of Free Mobile ten years ago.

Free Mobile had really turned the sector upside down by offering non-binding offers with a “only” SIM, that is to say that it was not necessary to buy a telephone to subscribe. After having recently recalled that its famous €2 package had not seen any price increase in recent years, the operator even recently committed that prices will not increase until 2027.

What should we expect from Stancer?

For the moment, we do not really know where Xavier Niel wants to go with his new fintech Stancer. The latter could become an online bank, thus attacking giants such as Boursorama. However, we also imagine Stancer take the form of a neobankwhich would arrive several years after the launch of Orange Bank.

However, iIt would be more likely to see Stancer take on services like Lydia, Qoonto or Alma, by deploying a payment solution between friends, or specially dedicated to businesses. No credit offer would therefore be at stake with this new company. Iliad being present outside of France, Stancer could even compete with other giants such as Klarna, Square, Stripe and even PayPal.

We will surely have to wait a few more days before knowing more about this, Free, Xavier Niel or Iliad having refused to reveal any information about Stancer. For now, we know that the company currently has about ten employees, and is actively recruiting.
