(Reuters) – French mobile app developers filed a lawsuit against Apple on Monday, accusing it of violating U.S. antitrust rules by charging excessive fees to feature in its app store.

The Société du Figaro, which develops the daily application, Equipe 24/24, which manages the application for the newspaper l’Equipe, and Le Geste, an association of online publishers, are among the complainants.

According to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Oakland, California, Apple abused its monopoly over the distribution of applications on mobile devices using the iOS operating system by imposing a single application store for these devices.

“There is no justification for Apple’s conduct,” the complaint says. “On the contrary, these decisions were taken to undermine competition.”

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
