Paris SG midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, 17, was called up to the French team for the first time by Didier Deschamps on Thursday, for the next gathering to face Gibraltar and Greece in the qualifiers for Euro 2024. He is the youngest player in Blue since Félix Vial in 1911. “Because of what he achieves with PSG, he has all the qualities to be at a very high level, even if there is competition for his position”, declared the coach at a press conference in Paris. “At his age he already demonstrates enormous potential and a maturity that is already well established, being just over 17,” he added.

Zaire-Emery, “a candidate for the next Euro”
“I believe that he has the potential to do it at the international level, he is a candidate for the next European Championship” in June and July 2024, he said. “The absence of Aurélien Tchouaméni due to injury (October 28 with Real Madrid against Barcelona, Editor’s note) did not necessarily condition the presence of Warren Zaire-Emery,” he clarified.
France will face Gibraltar on November 18, before going to Greece on November 21, for its seventh and eighth Euro qualifying matches. France has won its first six matches in Group B, where it is at the top, and is already assured of its qualification.
