In 2023 is everything different in terms of fashion? Not with the French. We trust their five most beautiful street style trends and take them with us into the new year.

French women: They are unmistakably elegant, easygoing and brimming with fashion awareness. Its flair is unique, just like the French capital itself. Women around the world are trying to integrate “La vie en France” into their wardrobes: the calm, yet always well thought-out style. They are always en vogue. Also in 2022 the French women were in fashion. We are taking five of their styles with us into the year 2023.

1. French women love straight-leg jeans

Away from extremes, even with pants. A wide flare, a baggy cut or rough material are not for the stylish French women. You know very well that a pair of jeans is not just a pair of jeans. With the grip on straight and timeless pants you have a piece that you can enjoy for many years to come. The straight-leg jeans are medium-high at the waist and, at best, impress with a subtle vintage wash. Combined with an oversized blazer or a long-sleeved top, these jeans are a fashionable must-have for the coming year, which we will add to our wardrobes.

2. Shearling jackets

They radiate a boho touch and are a true style addition to basic outfits: lambskin jackets! You and French women walked hand in hand in the fall and winter of 2022. No wonder, the fluffy details on the collar or sleeve hem make a statement. And above all, the leather jackets are so cuddly on the inside thanks to the fur. Yes, be careful! Of course we pay attention to the animal-friendly version of the fashion piece in fake fur. So the fashionable start in 2023 cannot go wrong. And, for an extra cool look, simply fold the collar up.

3. Riding boots

French women may not necessarily be at the riding stables, but at least since Serena van der Woodsen in “Gossip Girl” we know that riding boots are a fashion statement that shouldn’t be underestimated. The flat, knee-high boots are practical and stylish at the same time on cool days. They look classically elegant with a short skirt or jeans. A sophisticated winter shoe that is easy to combine thanks to its filigree design. But beware: Better to avoid models with chunky soles, they look much too rough.

4. Trench coats

Whether sporty or chic, the trench coat can do both and can now not be surpassed in terms of material variety. Stitched-in leather, mesh or jeans meet daring cuts or cut-outs. But the French remain true to their exquisite styling etiquette. You know trends go. The trench coat comes in their closet in classic beige or as a wool version in gray or black — and we definitely have it in the new year.

5. Striped tops: a French classic

Striped tops actually look maritime. But the classic French girl also likes to wear the striped designs that Coco Chanel personally brought to the catwalks in 1913. And maybe because of that. Style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot or, quite modern, Alexa Chung, couldn’t and can’t get enough of the trend. Also in 2023 we will take the shirt with block stripes and long sleeves into the new year. Coarse-meshed knits, fine cashmere sweaters or cotton tops, there are no limits to the material here.
