Curls only look good the day you wash your hair? We show that this is a myth. Within 15 minutes you can give your curls new bounce.

Curls are as varied as the heads they grow on. It is truly a science to recognize the needs of one’s own. If you are unsure about your own hair type and how to care for it, you can get professional hair advice. Among other things, an individual care routine is jointly developed there. As you can see, what works for my curl structure doesn’t necessarily work for my friends’. Especially in terms of products! Overall, though, there are a few tricks that curly hair can all rely on. Here is a brief overview of the different hair types:

My hair type is in between 3B/3C away. That basically means: bouncy, thick ringlets that have a love affair moisturizing products to lead. My curls on the back of my head and those on my top hair appear dry the quickest. If I then forget to put my satin cap on to sleep, there is not much to see of “curls” the next morning. They are all the happier about the little freshness kick.

There is little to be seen of “curls” here in the morning after getting up. But we’ll change that within 15 minutes!

Care begins with sleep

If you don’t protect your hair in the evening, you shouldn’t be surprised that it looks brittle in the morning. To prevent this and to keep the natural curl structure as good as possible for the next day, you go to bed with a palm tree: a whole high, loose braid. In addition, a satin cloth or a satin cap. This protects against rubbing on the pillow, which, among other things, causes your curls to run out of juice.

Relaxed wake up

Rubber out, head shaking, annoyed tugging around… please don’t! It helps to give my hair a few minutes to “get used to it” once the satin hair tie and scarf are off. How are they positioned as soon as they have found themselves and where do you maybe have to help yourself?

Moisture, Cream, Oil

In my case the whole head had to be refreshed. I have mine for this Hair in four sections divided for editing section by section. First you spray water on. In addition, I have one detangling spray used to make them even smoother. Different brushes serve different purposes: use a wet hair brush or a large comb to do the rest of the detangling work. Afterward you work your product a. In my case I use a pea size for each section Kerastase “Curl Manifesto Jelly Curl Contour”. Brush through the entire section with the Denmen Brush and then brush each strand again, starting from the base horizontally away from the head.

Kick of freshness: What I have learned in dealing with my curls

Less is often more

Sometimes we tend to want to try everything at once. If it doesn’t work, then apply more product, more hairspray or mousse. But at the end of the day, less is often more! Anyone who freshens up their curls every day should make sure not a bunch of products every day to smack your hair. At some point our hair can no longer absorb anything and just hangs drearily from our heads. I also like to use the same product for several weeks.

Every day is different

Caring for curls is a full-time, unpaid job. It takes a lot of nerves and a lot of time overall. Getting used to the fact early on that there will be days when our hair just doesn’t sit right or we don’t have the mental capacities for it quickly takes the pressure off. We don’t have to look like Instagram hair models every day. Some days they’re frizzy. And that’s not only normal, it’s perfectly okay.

Testing is above studying

I could share so many more tips and tricks, but at the end of the day this is not every tip made for you. The best way to find out is to try things out and perhaps optimize things to suit you. Of course, this also includes the desire to test things and deal with how your own hair structure changes. And if you don’t feel like it or don’t have the patience, that’s more than okay too!
