Friends quiz: are you sure you know Ross well?


New episode of our Friends series quiz, dedicated today to Ross Geller. How well do you know the paleontologist in the gang?

David Schwimmer was born on November 2, 1966 in the United States in the Queens district of New York, but he grew up in Los Angeles. It was in the upscale neighborhood of Beverly Hills that he studied, destined for a career as a doctor or a lawyer, but he radically changed paths after having joined the theater classes at his high school.

He then enrolled in drama classes at Northerwestern University in Chicago, encouraged by his professors, before founding his own troupe in 1988, made up of eight actors, which enjoyed some success and received several awards for plays such as The Jungle.

In the early 90s, he joined the cast of several popular detective series such as Los Angeles Law and New York Police Blues, and would eventually find worldwide success, landing the role of Ross Geller, one of the six characters main characters of the series Friends.

If the actor is known for having played the eternal lover of Rachel, we know less that he also directed several episodes of the series, a dozen in total. A director’s cap that he will take up a few years later for an episode of the spin-off series devoted to Joey Tribbiani, and for two feature films: Always Run Denis in 2007 and Trust in 2010.

Among his many other roles for the small and the big screen, we can remember his participation in the mini-series Band of Brothers created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, in which he plays the role of Captain Herbert Sobel. He also lent his voice to the giraffe Melman for the Madagascar animation franchise.
