The router manufacturer AVM has released a software update for one of its fiber Fritz boxes. Owners should always install the update, even if it is only a small update. It goes up from FritzOS 7.29 to 7.30.
Fritzbox 5530 Fiber: New update is available
owner of one Fiber Optic Fritzbox 5530 are receiving a maintenance update for their routers. The previous software FritzOS 7.29 will be replaced by FritzOS 7.30. The list of changes is manageable, but it is still worth installing. There have been some minor improvements, but no new features are expected.
According to the official change log from AVM, one has to deal with, among other things encrypted HTTPS connections taken care of, which sometimes led to problems when using a VPN. In addition, interoperability with GPON technology, which is often used in Deutsche Telekom’s Fiber-to-the-Home, has been improved. The access profile for fiber optic connections has also been improved here with Easy Support support.
With the Fritzbox 5530 Fiber, customers can also contact Optimizations for IPTV look forward to high utilization in the upstream. New access profiles for Internet access via WAN are available in Italy and access profiles with IPTV support for Delta in the Netherlands (source: AVM).
the Installation of Fritz OS 7.30 happens directly via the user interface. This is a final update and not a lab version.

The Wi-Fi 6 standard is included and allows a transmission speed of up to 2,400 megabits per second in the radio range of 5 GHz.
