After the FritzBox 7590 has already received a beta version for FritzOS 7.50, it is now the turn of the FritzBox 7590 AX. Interested users can test the new functions of the operating system version before the release of the next major update. FritzOS 7.50 brings, among other things, an appointment calendar and a voice announcement for the FritzFon as well as the popular VPN method WireGuard. Below you will find out what changes the beta version contains in detail.
FritzOS 7.50: The most important innovations
For the first time since FritzOS 7.25, version 7.50 brings fresh functions. These are the most important innovations:
- Appointment calendar for FritzFon
- Voice announcement for FritzFon
- Call diversions and blocks for callers who are not in the phone book
- WireGuard VPN
- Faster and more stable WLAN with FritzBox in repeater mode
- New smart home templates
- Support of window sensors with DECT
- Network access to storage media in exFAT file format possible
New beta version for FritzBox 7590 AX
The new betas are available for download from an AVM website (version numbers: 07.39-94090 and -94093). The versions include the following new features, improvements and bug fixes:
Internet
- New: Support for WireGuard VPN connections
- Improvement: When activating Internet access to storage media via FTP/FTPS, the randomly assigned port number is displayed
- Improvement: The IPv6 Interface Identifier used on the WAN is chosen randomly
- Improvement: In the user interface, an image now clarifies the different VPN connection types
- Improvement: Other FritzBox products in the Mesh are automatically registered in the Mesh Master’s MyFritz account
- Change: Display and setting of the NetBIOS filter enabled (FritzBox Cable only)
- Change: When creating a port release, the “Emule” application is no longer provided
- Change: Predefined selection of DynDNS providers replaced by a general setting option
broadband
- Improvement: Improved interoperability with ADSL2+ and VDSL remote stations
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
- New: In the mesh mode as a repeater, connections with several WLAN bands are now possible (7590)
- Improvement: When changing the encryption to “unencrypted” on the Mesh Master, activation of the 5 GHz wireless network is ensured and WLAN devices are correctly logged off if necessary
- Improvement: Increased data rates against some wireless devices
- Improvement: The legend below “Occupancy of WLAN channels” on the page WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS > radio channel now with single-line display
- Improvement: Optimized the automatic channel selection when checking for priority use in the 5 GHz wireless network
- Improvement: Repeat channel selection by auto channel function when target channel is blocked by radar
- Improvement: Overlay with information text in the graphic display “Utilization of the current radio channel” now also with active VHT160 mode
- Change: The “WLAN radio network”, “Security” and “Radio channel” pages on the user interface have a new structure
- Change: New message under system > events if the permitted maximum number of repeaters is exceeded (only 7590 AX)

- Improvement: Display of home network connections on the “Mesh” page of the user interface responds more quickly to changes
- Improvement: A user interface of newly connected home network devices can be called up faster via the link in the mesh graphic
- Improvement: Changed country and language settings of the mesh master are automatically transferred to the mesh repeater
- Improvement: New note in the system events when a network loop was resolved by FritzOS
telephony
- New: Call diversions and call blocks can be applied to callers who are “not in the phone book” (phone book as white list)
- Improvement: Increased interoperability when using encrypted telephony
- Improvement: Table display of the configured call diversions revised
