Frogwares (The Sinking City, Sherlock Holmes) will unveil its Project Palianytsia horror game this summer

The studio Frogware is now greatly impacted by the war in Ukraine, as the company’s headquarters are based in Kyiv. This notably forced the teams to cancel the Xbox One version of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter Onebut the studio today reveals the first details on its next title, the scale of which will necessarily be reduced given the situation currently affecting the country.

A smaller project

Frogwares therefore lifts the veil on Project Palianytsiaa new horror game filled with mysteries, mixed with an atmosphere inspired by the Victorian era, of which we discover today the first concept arts.

The studio indicates that initially, this project was not the one originally planned, but the war changed everything. This new game will therefore be less open than the studio’s previous titles, but the Frogwares teams still promise that the quality will be there, especially in terms of writing.

Sergey Oganesyanresponsible for communication within the studio, then reveals what is hidden behind the provisional name Project Palianytsia :

The name Palianytsia is symbolic for Ukraine as it is considered part of our national cuisine. But it’s also the equivalent of phonetic Dark Souls for Russians, who often can’t pronounce it correctly when trying to impersonate Ukrainians. And so now it is often used in the field as a test to quickly identify the possible affiliation of unknown individuals. »

The studio should reveal more details during the summer on this next project, and we obviously send all our support to the teams in these difficult times.
