Swiss Post will increase the prices for letters and parcels at the beginning of 2024.
A and B Mail letters will each cost 10 cents more, priority and economy parcels will cost 1.50 francs more in future.
The price monitor has approved the increases, as he and the Post jointly announced.
The price increases are necessary on the one hand due to the continuing decline in letter volumes and business at the post office counter, the Post said. On the other hand, the current price increase in postal services is causing considerable additional costs for energy, transport, materials and wages.
Only parts of these additional costs are passed on to customers, the post continues.

The price monitor announced that he was able to “slow down significantly” the Post’s demands. As a result of the negotiations, the price increases were around 70 million lower than requested by the post office. For example, Swiss Post wanted to raise the price for a standard A Mail letter to CHF 1.40. Now they have agreed on 1.20 francs.
