From Sylt to Salzburg: With this night train, we dream of going on vacation

Those who live by the sea and dream of the mountains can make their dream come true overnight. The night train takes you from Sylt to Salzburg.

Since Deutsche Bahn sent its night trains to the siding in 2016, only the Austrian state railway ÖBB has been available for travelers to get from A to B in the dark hours. A small railway company based in Hamburg has now put the night train back on the rails.

Then a night drive is worthwhile

The Alpen-Sylt Night Express now brings travelers to the sea or the mountains four times a week. Every Thursday and Saturday it goes from Sylt to Salzburg, every Friday and Sunday from Salzburg to Sylt. Change? Nothing! Access options are in Freilassing, Traunstein, Prien am Chiemsee, Rosenheim, Munich-Pasing, Augsburg, Donauwörth, Nuremberg, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg and Frankfurt / Main-Süd, Hamburg Central Station, Hamburg-Altona, Husum and Niebüll.

There is a downer, however: the ticket prices should make some swallow: 399 euros per compartment is not exactly a bargain. In plain language, this means that those who travel alone pay the full price. This saves you the cost of accommodation for a pension or hotel. A night train trip could therefore be worthwhile, especially for families.
