From the Viennese studio – six works of art disappeared after construction work

A total of six paintings by Vienna-based artist Roland Siegele have disappeared. When construction work took place in the building where his studio is located, the artist packed up the works and left them there. When he recently checked that everything was in order, there was no trace of the pictures.

According to police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger, the Tyrolean-born artist had packed the works in his studio on Alsergrund because construction work was taking place in the building. When he checked in late July, early August, the pictures were gone. Since they didn’t show up until mid-September, he filed a complaint. The search is ongoing, Siegele put the value of one of the 120 by 80 centimeter pictures at 12,000 to 15,000 euros. All six have not yet been sold. The police are looking for the works of art on the website of the Federal Criminal Police Office.
