In 1972 she had to flee from the marriage hell with the crazy producer Phil Spector and divorced him in 1974. Several stars then helped her stay in business and break free from the dependency of her ex-spouse.

The musician described the marriage in her biography as terrible and marked by abuse by her ex-husband. Phil Spector was even jailed for murder in 2009 and died of Corona on January 16, 2021.
