The long-awaited sequel to the icy universe of Frostpunk is on the horizon with the announcement of a beta phase accessible from April 15 for players who have opted to pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition. This new iteration promises a renewed immersion in the unforgiving expanses of the Frostlands, where the survival of humanity now clashes with its quest for power.
Developed by 11 Bit Studios, Frostpunk 2 transports players thirty years after the cataclysmic events of the first game. Human society, having narrowly escaped extinction, has adapted to a precarious existence, trading dependence on coal for a new era powered by oil. This energy transition is, however, not without consequences, exacerbating internal tensions and competition for vital resources in a metropolis always thirsty for expansion.
The beta, open from April 15 to 22, invites players to discover a preview of Utopia Builder mode, a sandbox playground where every decision weighs heavily on the future of the city. According to the creators, this testing phase offers a taste of the challenges and moral dilemmas to be resolved in the quest for a precarious harmony between technical progress and the preservation of humanity.
