Launched on January 13, the 13th edition of MyFrenchFilmFestival ended on February 13 after the reveal of its awards. From the Grand Jury Prize to the International Press Prize, discover the winning films!

Launched in 2011, MyFrenchFilmFestival was back on January 13 for a 13th edition. 29 French-language films, including 16 directed or co-directed by women, were available online for an international audience. From About Joan to A Story of Love and Desire, there were many competitors. But which films managed to win the coveted awards?

The Grand Jury Prize is awarded to…

This year, the prestigious jury was made up of the Franco-Iranian Emily Atef (More than ever), the Japanese Chie Hayakawa (Plan 75), the Finn Juho Kuosmanen (Compartment n°6), the Ukrainian Sergei Loznitsa (In the mist) and the Spaniard Albert Serra (Pacification).

After A Country that Stands Wise in 2022, the Grand Jury Prize is awarded to… Rien à foutre, by Julie Lecoustre and Emmanuel Marre!

Cassandre (Adèle Exarchopoulos) is a flight attendant in a low-cost company. Living from day to day, she connects flights and parties without a future, faithful to her Tinder nickname “Carpe Diem”. An existence without ties, in the form of a headlong rush, which seemingly satisfies her. As the pressure from her company increases, Cassandra ends up losing her footing. Will she be able to face the buried pain and return to those she left on the ground?

In the running for the César 2023 in the Best actress category for Adèle Exarchopoulos, Nothing to fuck is a contemplative and poetic pearl on the ills of a young generation in weightlessness. To see urgently!

The International Press Prize is awarded to…

Les Magnétiques, directed by Vincent Maël Cardonna, has become famous with international critics and thus succeeds the doubly named Un Pays qui se tenu sage.

In the 1980s, Philippe Bichon (Thimotée Robart), a young mechanic passionate about radio and music, saw the age of the possible: François Mitterrand had just won the presidential election, the pirate radio he ran with his friends was going to emit legally and a sublime young girl arrives in his life. But terrible news upsets his plans: he has to do his military service.

Nominated four times for the César 2022, Les Magnétiques notably received Best First Film. This new award will undoubtedly allow it, more than a year after its theatrical release, to find a new audience.

The International Press Prize for a short film is awarded to…

As for short films, it was Paloma who stood out in a rich selection of fifteen works.

Directed by Hugo Bardin, Paloma tells the improbable epic of the eponymous drag queen to recover the funeral urn of her missing lover. Once the ashes are in her possession, Paloma flees and meets Mike (Augustin Boyer), a silent and melancholy truck driver.

The spectators of Drag Race France will be delighted to find Paloma, the winner of the first season, in front of the camera… but also behind! Hugo Bardin’s direction, as much as his performance in the title role, impresses and is a strong incentive to watch his fledgling career.

The Public Prizes are awarded to…

After Une Vie démente by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni, it was Le Monde après nous by Louda Ben Salah Cazanas that won the favor of an international audience. Worn by Adrien Gabrielli and Louise Chevillotte, this feature film traces the meeting of Labidi and Elisa. One is scheming, lives off side jobs and laborious roommates; the other is a tidy and bright young woman.

Cultures, social classes and life paths confront and come together in this romantic and romantic fable as touching as it is surprising.

Among the 16 short films in competition, Cataracte won. A little quirky nugget, the work of Faustine Crespy and Laetitia De Montalembert is as much a short circuit as a short film.

Nicky (Özay Fecht), a marginal and eccentric woman, decides to end it after losing her last allowances. She entrusts her dog Izy to her neighbour. But when she brings the dog back to her, a race against time begins for Nicky in full overdose. She has only one solution left: entrust Izy to Jacques (Ferdinand Niquet Rioux), an employee at the Paris CAF, who has come to Nicky for his first check-up.

These awards come to close an ever more eclectic 13th edition, which once again brought together film lovers from all over the world.
