Fuel allowance: old license plates finally eligible, after the resolution of a bug

Owners of vehicles fitted with plates prior to April 2009 finally have the option of submitting their applications online.

Launched in mid-January, the fuel allowance is finally eligible for French people equipped with a vehicle with an old license plate. A computer problem prevented them from registering online to benefit from this aid of 100 euros.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the difficulties encountered resulted from a problem of recognition of certain old plate formats which included 3 numbers before the letters, type 123 AB 45ยป, prior to April 2009. On this date, they were replaced by new ones, of structure AA-123-AA. A deadline had been set for December 31, 2020 to equip his car with the new format, but a decree had finally canceled it.

For the time being, 5.6 million people have made a request for fuel compensation, while ten million French people are tax eligible. An email was also sent to them recently and Bruno Le Maire postponed the end of the system until March 31, instead of the end of February. “I think there are those who think they have no right to it when they have the right to it“, specified last week the Minister of the Economy, – specifying for example “than a couple with a child earning 3285 euros net per monthcan benefit from this indemnity of 100 euros.
